NEW Golf Rule Questions 2009 - Question 6
In a stroke play competition, the Committee issues the score cards containing the competitor's handicap in addition to his name and the date. The Committee mistakenly records a competitor's handicap as seven instead of six and this affects the number of strokes received. The error remains unnoticed until after the card is returned, but before the competition has closed.
What is the ruling?
Answer to Question #5 is below

Hi Ladies,

TONIGHT, Monday, July 29 our sponsor will be K2 Design. K2 Design are sponsoring 2 Ladies nights this year. Thanks to Peter and Elaine Kreutz owners of K2 Design for supporting Ladies Golf. K2 Design came on board last year for the first time and it was a fun filled evening with great prizes. We will, again, have great prizes so don't miss it.....REMEMBER if it is not raining or lightning then we will go. We are have in potted plant door prizes tonight I just picked them up.....they are quite pretty. Our game is Ticks or Bingo Bango Bongo, whatever, and there are 4 hole games.

You should have come on the Monday June 22 if you were not there you really missed out. It turned out to be wonderful evening. Everything looked fresh and green after the most needed rains. Congratulations to those who braved it and came out I know you had a terrific time and most everyone won a prize. Wilkinson Livingston Stevens LLP Chartered Accountants sponsored last Monday and we would like to thank them their continued support. The gals from Wilkinson Livingston Stevens had a good time and won loads of prizes too.

Congratulations to Edith Carde, who broke 100 shooting 98 on June 11, 2009. Sorry for not getting this information up sooner Edith. She will be presented with her Break 100 Pin very soon. If you are a Lloydminster Golf and Country Club Female Member and have broken 100, 90 or 80 or if have shot a got a hole-in-one at any course, all you have to do is submit your dated, signed and attested score card to Vickie and we will present you with your Break or Hole-in-one Pin. It seems to me that there was somebody last year that I did not get a pin too. Please contact me again. I forget things....sometimes. :-)

A Reminder that Monday, July 6 Ladies Night Sponsor will be Bexson Construction. Lynne Wunder will have her group out once again to assist with this night.

See you Tonight 6:00 pm Shotgun Start. Monday, June 29.

Golf Rule Questions 2009 - Question 5
A player plays a stroke on the putting green and, while the ball is still in motion,
it is picked up and carried away by a dog and dropped next to the hole. What is the ruling?

You said The stroke counts and the ball must be played as it lies. the correct answer was The stroke is cancelled and the ball must be replaced. You were......WRONG
See Decision 19- 1 / 7 Ball Picked Up or Deflected by Dog on Putting Green After Stroke on Green"

[The following has been copied from the RCGA website. - link is below]

19-1. By Outside Agency
If a ball in motion is accidentally deflected or stopped by any outside agency, it is a rub of the green, there is no penalty and the ball must be played as it lies except:

a. If a ball in motion after a stroke other than on the putting green comes to rest in or on any moving or animate outside agency, the player must, through the green or in a hazard, drop the ball, or on the putting green place the ball, as near as possible to the spot where the outside agency was when the ball came to rest in or on it, and
b. If a ball in motion after a stroke on the putting green is deflected or stopped by, or comes to rest in or on, any moving or animate outside agency except a worm or an insect, the stroke is canceled. The ball must be replaced and the stroke replayed.

If the ball is not immediately recoverable, another ball may be substituted.

(Player’s ball deflected or stopped by another ball — see Rule 19-5.)

Note: If the referee or the Committee determines that a player’s ball has been purposely deflected or stopped by an outside agency, Rule 1-4 applies to the player. If the outside agency is a fellow-competitor or his caddie, Rule 1-2 applies to the fellow-competitor.
