This section is designed to walk you through the process of creating a Marketplace presence using the WebPage Creator

As you go through this process of creating your WebPage do not worry if you make an error, such as making a spelling error, entering an incorrect phone number, or making a wrong color selection, etc.  Keep in mind that the information you are placing is not live yet and you will have plenty of chances to correct and change information.

When you have completed Step 1, 2 & 3 you will submit the information or updates by requesting that your WebPage be published/approved. 
Step 5 - Create a Coupon
Once  your WebPage has been approved you may create an online coupon.  

Marketplace Sign-Up or Marketplace Registration

  • Email Address

    If you have an email address enter it in this form field provided. If you have more than one email address, choose one that you think will serve you best. This email address will also be used for any online coupons, request for quotes or customer emails from your WebPage.  If you do not have an email address you can obtain one free from a variety of providers. There are many email providers, a few free email providers are http://www.hotmail.com or http://mail.yahoo.com/ or http://home.netscape.com/

  • Choosing a User / WebPage Name

This is where you will enter your User / File name (WebPage name). 
And this is how your WebPage will be found. 

Select ONLY from the following to create your WebPage name.

     1. letters (caSe-SenSitiVe)
     2. numbers
     3. dashes
     4. underscores
     5. or a combination of the above

You must select be AT LEAST 3 characters.  There can be NO SPACES in your company name.

Hint: Try to make it fit your business name, but don't get too wordy! This WebPage name will used to access your Control Panel later.

EXAMPLE:
If your Business or Company name is - My Company 
then you may want to name your WebPage  - mycompany. (note there are no spaces in this name)

URL: (By naming your page you have created a file on this site called a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) this is where and how your new WebPage will be found.

Your URL will appear looking something like this:

http://members.Marketplace.com/mycompany.html

You will then have a URL similar to this to use as advertising once your WebPage has been approved.

  • Choosing a Password

    This is necessary for when you wish to access your WebPage for updates or creating coupons. 

    Hints on selecting a password:
    • select something you will remember.
    • something not easily guessed (don't use your phone number or a birth date etc.).
    • it is advisable to make your password at least 4 characters long, using letters and at least one number so password guessing is more difficult.
    • store your password in a safe place.

    Password Recovery:  Should you forget your password you may recover it by going to the 
    Login Recovery
    page, type in your email address and the information will be sent back immediately to you.

Step 1 - Enter or Update Company Information Content

Once the registration process is complete you will be sent to a page that confirms your registration information and allows you to proceed to Step 1 Information Content.

  • Business/Company Name

    Note: You will see your company name already appearing in the Name form field and it will have no spaces between the words in it. 

    You may re-enter your Business or Company name as you would like to see it displayed.  
    Simply delete what is presently in this field and re-enter your company name as you wish it displayed on the internet.

    i.e. You may change it from mycompany to My Company

    The Business or Company name should be the same as is listed in all other references to your company. i.e. local phone book, business cards etc. The text will be displayed exactly the way you type it. 
  • Company Slogan (optional)
    Enter your Company slogan in this form field. Make sure to watch sentence case when entering your company slogan. Note: if you are using Internet Explorer 5+ your slogan will scroll across the screen. This effect is exclusive to Internet Explorer 5+. Netscape users will not be able to see the animation effects. Instead the slogan will be centered on the page. The text will be displayed exactly the way you type it.
  • Address (optional)
    Enter your Business or Company address in this form field. Make sure to watch Capital letters when entering your Business or Company's address. The text will be displayed exactly the way you type it.
  • City (optional)
    Enter the City your Business or Company is located in this form field. Make sure to watch Capital letters when entering your city name. The text will be displayed exactly the way you type it.
  • Province/State (optional)
    Enter the Province or State your company is located in this form field. Make sure to watch Capital letters when entering your Province or State. The text will be displayed exactly the way you type it.
  • Postal/Zip Code (optional)
    Enter the Postal code (Canada) or Zip code (US) of your Company or Business. The text will be displayed exactly the way you type it.
  • Phone # (required)
    Enter your Business or Company telephone number in this form field. Be sure to include your area code
    i.e. 403-555-5555
  • Fax # (optional)
    Enter your Business or Company FAX number in this form field. Be sure to include your area code
    i.e. 403-555-5555
  • Toll Free # (optional)
    If your company has a toll free number, enter the telephone number in this form field. 
    i.e. 1-800-555-5555
  • Email Address (required)
    The email address that you entered during the registration process will appear in this field automatically.  This may be updated or changed at a later date.
  • Website Address (optional)
    If your Business or Company has a Website, enter the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) in this form field. Make sure you type the address correctly with NO SPACES. 
    i.e. http://www.mywebpage.com.  
  • Office Hours (optional)
    List your Business or Company hours of operation in this form field. Remember to type exactly as you want this text to appear on your new WebPage.
  • Different Head Office Location (optional)
    If your Business or Company has more than one location, enter the location of the head office in this form field. If the head office is the same location as entered in the above Company Information then you may leave this form field empty. Remember to type exactly as you want this text to appear on your new WebPage.
  • Company Description (optional)
    Enter information about your Business or Company in this form field. Some items could be; What is your Business or Companies role, what services you offer etc. Remember to type exactly as you want this text to appear on your new WebPage.
  • Highlight of Products and Services (optional)
    This form field is somewhat similar to the Company Description field. Here you may want to list different products or services your Business or Company offers to its clients. Remember to type exactly as you want this text to appear on your new WebPage.

  • Key Words
    This is important if you wish to be found by search engines. Keywords consist of words or phrases separated by commas. They are for use by search engines to help place your page in their searches. These words are NOT shown to the public, they are hidden. You may enter up to 60 words or phrases in this area. Select words that are most relevant to your Business or Company. 
    (eg: test, test statistics, testing services, results, test results, testing equipment, equipment, etc.)

  • Save & Exit
    Pressing this button will submit your content to the WebPage Manager and offer you the next step in the process, designing your WebPage.
  • Reset
    This button clears All information you may have entered into the WebPage creator forms. You may wish to use this function if you entered in your information, and didn't like what the page looked like. You may also use this to clear the form and start again.

  • Upload Graphic or Logo (Save / Submit your information above before uploading any graphics).

    The very first item on the Information Content page is Upload Graphic or Logo. The graphic or logo you choose to upload Must be a .GIF or .JPG format and 64K or less for file size.  If you do not have your logo or graphic ready you may wish to do this step at a later time. 

    NOTE: The graphic you upload will replace your business or company name in text. You either have a logo or a text name but not both.

    Instructions on uploading your Graphic or Logo:
    1.  The easiest way is to save your .jpg or .gif file to your desk top.
    2.  Click the link at the top of the page "Upload Logo / Graphic"
    3.  You will be taken to the page called "IMaGe Uploader".  On this page Click the "Browse" button.
    4.  Select Desktop from your "Look in:" window.
    5.  Scroll through your desktop files until you find the file you wish to upload.
    6.  Select this image file and click Open.
    7.  This image file will now be in your Browser window. 
    8.  Click the "Upload Image Button"
    9.  The next window will display your image or logo and state, "Image has been uploaded!"

    To Change your image or Logo:
    10. Simply click on the logo in the Information Content Page and then follow these instructions again.

Step 2 - Select or Update Company Categories

  • Category Selection
    (a minimum of one category must be selected)

    The site you are posting your WebPage on allows people to search for businesses by category. Choose the category or categories from the menu you think are most appropriate for your Company or Business.
  • Update Categories
    (a minimum of one category must be selected)

    Once you have selected or changed to the categories that are most appropriate for your Company or Business.
    Click the Update Categories button.

Step 3 - WebPage Designer (2 Options)

You have two options available to create your WebPage design. In both options you may preview all the choices until you are satisfied with the combinations you have chosen. You may also change your design at any time.

Option A
Design your own WebPage using the tools provided. 
(It is fun and easy to do)

This is where you select your fonts (text style), font sizes, font colors, back ground color, link color, hover color.

Option B. 
Select a design from the many templates available. All of the fonts, colors and sizes selections
have been made for you. You only have to select one of the designs available.

A. Design Your Own WebPage

  • Font
    This area allows you to select the font face what All the text in your WebPage will be. There is a set list due to the fact not everyone has the same fonts installed on their computer. For this reason you have been given a choice of standard fonts that come with most PC platform computers today. Fonts available include; Arial, Comic Sans MS, Courier, Garamond, MS Sans Serif, Times New Roman, and Verdana.
  • Background Colour
    This drop-down box allows you to chose the colour of the Background on your WebPage. Click on the down arrow in the right hand corner of the drop down box to reveal a menu of available colours. Click the colour you would like to use.
  • Text Colour
    This drop-down box allows you to chose the colour of the Text on your WebPage, Click on the down arrow in the right hand corner of the drop down box to reveal a menu of available colours. Click the colour you would like to use.
  • Link Colour
    A Link is a line of text or a graphic that has a Hyperlink attached to it. This allows the user to click on the item and view another page or different site altogether. This drop-down box allows you to chose the colour of the Links on your WebPage. Click on the down arrow in the right hand corner of the drop down box to reveal a menu of available colours. Click the colour you would like to use.
  • Visited Link Colour
    Once a Link is clicked, it changes colour to let the user know they have already clicked on that Link. This drop-down box allows you to chose the colour of the Visited Links on your WebPage. Click on the down arrow in the right hand corner of the drop down box to reveal a menu of available colours. Click the colour you would like to use.
  • Hover Link Colour
    When a Link is clicked, it changes to the Hover Colour (Active Link colour), until the user has released the mouse button. This serves as a highlight to show the user they are clicking the Link. When the mouse button has been released, the user is taken to the linked page. When the user returns to their WebPage the Link they just visited changes to the Visited Link colour. This drop-down box allows you to chose the colour of the Visited Links on your WebPage. Click on the down arrow in the right hand corner of the drop down box to reveal a menu of available colours. Click the colour you would like to use. For the Hover Link colour it is recommended that you choose a lighter colour than the Link.
  • Refresh Preview
    When you click Refresh Preview, your page will be changed to reflect the new colours you have chosen.
  • Save & Exit
    Click on Save & Exit when you are satisfied with your results, your WebPage will be updated.

  • NOTE: Should you wish to View your page at anytime go to the Control Panel, click "Choose or Change WebPage Design", then click the "Design Your Own" button. 
    Your page will appear as you have saved it to this point.

B. Use a Template to Design Your WebPage

  • Selecting & Previewing Template
    This section provides a number of templates for you to choose from in designing your WebPage. Click on any one of the templates that you would like your page to use. A preview of your page will load automatically. If you would like to choose a different template click "Pick Another Template" and make another selection.
  • Save & Exit
    Click on Save & Exit when you are satisfied with your results, your WebPage will be updated.

  • NOTE: Should you wish to View your page at anytime go to the Control Panel, click "Choose or Change WebPage Design", then click the "Design Your Own" button. 
    Your page will appear as you have saved it to this point.

Step 4 - Request WebPage Publication or Request WebPage Updates

  • Submit your WebPage for authorization
    When you are first designing your WebPage the Publish button will submit your request to the Marketplace for publication of your new WebPage. Once you are authorized you will receive notification by email that your page has been accepted. 

    NOTE: After your WebPage is authorized and live you will use this Publish Button again for any future updates or changes to your WebPage.

Step 5 - Create an Online Coupon or Update a Coupon

  • Headline
    Enter the title here for your coupon. (i.e., Limited Time Offer, 10% OFF, Buy One Get One)

    NOTE: Once your WebPage has been approved you may create an online coupon for your business. This is an optional feature provided by the Marketplace to enhance your marketing abilities. This online coupon is available to potential customers who may print the coupon and present it at your place of business for redemption. 
  • Description
    Enter a brief description of your coupon here, i.e., discounts, special offers etc.
  • Limits
    Enter the limitations here, i.e., One coupon per customer.
  • Active Date
    This field allows you to indicate the date the coupon becomes active.
  • Expiry Date
    This field allows you to indicate the date the coupon expires.
  • Submit
    Click this button to submit your coupon to the Marketplace once you are satisfied with the information on your coupon.
  • Reset
    This button clears All information you may have entered into the coupon creator form. You may wish to use this function if you entered in your information and didn't like it, use this to clear the form and start again.

  • NOTE: You may update, change or delete, your coupon at any time. This is done from your personal Control Panel.
