Here is another Rule to ponder
December Question -"Through the green" is the whole area of the course except the teeing ground and putting green of the hole being played and all water hazards on the course. TRUE OR FALSE
.....the answer will be supplied in the next newsletter.
November Question - A player (A) replaces his ball on the putting green, at the correct spot 30 centimetres from the hole, and the ball stays at rest. As he is about to address the ball, it rolls into the hole. What is the ruling?
Answer - If you said A is required to replace the ball you were WRONG...... the correct answer is A is deemed to have holed out with his previous stroke. See Decision 20- 3 d / 1 Placed Ball Rolls into Hole.
About What is Happening Right Now
From George Couzens, Club President,
It seems funny reporting on Golf Club at this time of year but we have important things to report on.
We have organized two committees.
One is our Marketing Committee headed up by Dale Woodkey. They presented a Five Year Plan to the board which was approved. They have already started to go out to the community. I ask all members to support this committee as it is a big task.
We also have a committee to meet with the city headed up by Don Smith. We are trying to see how the city can help with our problems and also work on some projects that will help them as well.
I would like to wish you all Merry Christmas and all the best in 2010
From H. Dale Wookey, Promotions Director,
$1,000,000
This past summer at the AGM, Marty Kindrachuk brought up the need for a Marketing Committee to help the Board with fundraising for the golf course. At that time, I was fortunate enough to be elected to Board of Directors as the Promotions Director.
At the first Board of Directors Meeting I asked the Board if I could create a Marketing Committee and I was given the go ahead. Joining me on the Committee was Marty Kindrachuck, David Lofthaug, Cass Morrison and Dale Wilkinson. Jo-Anne Schiller, Dwayne Keichinger and Robin Acton have also contributed to the Committee.
We held several meetings over the next few weeks and came up with a myriad of ideas. It was decided to concentrate of two or three projects and commit to doing them well.
MILLION DOLLAR HOLE-IN-ONE
First is to hold a Million Dollar Hole-in-One Tournament in the spring. There will be 18 holes with hole-in-one prizes ranging in value from $20,000 to $35,000 in the form of vehicles, guads / sleds & trailers, boats, garage packages, investment packages, etc. Every hole will have a $500 closest to the pin payout and every golfer who puts his ball on the green will have his name put in a draw for $100. All of these KP and ball on green entries will have their names put in a hat. Then One Player will have one chance at making a hole-in-one for $1,000,000 in front of a large gallery of golfers and the local media.
ADVERTISING / SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Secondly, we will be selling advertising on every hole on the golf course, except the fourth hole. The Oilfield Technical Society has contributed significant funds to the building of that signature hole and if anything, they should be rewarded with a sign acknowledging their contribution. Each hole sponsor will receive advertising on their hole from tee to green.
Have you seen those decal wrapped vehicles around town? Our 3rd Project is getting more cart sponsorship. Brant Wheeler of Fountain Tire has generously provided cart advertising for over ten years and his ads will still be featured in the same position on the cart. Starting this golf season carts though, in the active pool, will be available for decal wrap advertising.
WIN A TRIP TO A “MAJOR”
Finally, we are going to do a raffle with the prize being a golf destination trip, the Masters, US Open, etc. Those details are being finalized.
Our Pro, Kyle Mulligan will be contacting members, individuals and business's to solicit their support in implementing the Marketing Committee’s Plan.
However, none of these ideas can become real without your support. We believe the sponsorship opportunities profiled above offer great exposure to any business wanting to promote themselves in our marketplace. If you are interested or want more information, please contact me at hddoubleu@shaw.ca or Kyle Mulligan at kylemulligan@sasktel.net. Alternatively, we need volunteers to help us reach our goals. If you can help in any capacity, please contact myself or Kyle at the above e-mail addresses.
Watch this space for how YOU can help with our fundraising efforts. As details are hammered out, we will have things that need doing and we will announce it here.

From Robin Acton, Ladies Club President
It is somehow feels cruel to have to write a golf club report when I look out my window and see the snow swirling and the wind blowing. However, spring will come, and soon the Ladies Club Executive will be gathering to plan for the 2010 season.
Mark your calendars! The 3rd Annual Ladies Charity Open will be held June 12th. Over the past couple of years our tournament has become a much anticipated event. We want to thank all of you who have supported us in the past and look forward to your support in 2010. As the Charity Open expands, so does our need for volunteers and sponsorship. If you can help us, we want to hear from you. E-mail me at actonr@mcsnet.ca.
Speaking of volunteers, thanks to all of you who are too numerous to name, that committed to organize Ladies Night this coming season. We look forward to the details as Ladies Night continues to be a great opportunity to come out to be with friends, have a little fun and enjoy our beautiful golf course.
Have a peaceful and joyous Holiday Season. See you in 2010!
From Dwayne Keichinger, Mens Club President
